A commissioned painting created in Portugal for my father-in-law living in Japan. The composition stems from my drawings: a woman balancing fruit on her head while holding an axe, a figure of fragile equilibrium. The work is inspired by Temperance from the Marseille Tarot, yet it is also inhabited by a hybrid nature at once Japanese and Portuguese where cultures and symbols meet in a delicate balance.
